The Position Skilled Medical is currently seeking a Head of Unit/Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) to commence a permanent role in a regional Victorian base hospital. This role is approx. 0.7 FTE non-clinical and 0.3 FTE clinical with the ability to negotiate load. It offers an attractive salary and the chance to provide operational and strategic clinical leadership in a base hospital and within a larger health service group. The Head of Unit will work in partnership with the Director and Clinical Director of Emergency and Intensive Care and the Nurse Unit Manager to provide support and leadership for FACEMs, a strong framework for teaching and professional services for medical students, interns, HMOs and emergency medicine trainees, and the highest quality care for patients within a safe and rewarding workplace. A key initial focus will be ensuring readiness of the team to move into the new and expanded emergency department in 2027. Health Service Designated regional trauma centre with a Tier 1 accredited training program through the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine. It currently has 35 points of care plus 12 short stay unit beds. It sees more than 56 000 presentations per year and over 23% of presentations are paediatric. The emergency department will move into a new and expanded department in 2027 with completion of the base hospital redevelopment. The Location One of Victoria’s largest and fastest growing inland centres offering first class schools, shopping and cultural precincts, sporting facilities and various tertiary facilities. Essential Criteria • Medical qualification and current emergency specialist registration with AHPRA. • Fellow of Australasian College of Emergency Medicine. • Broad experience across the spectrum of emergency medicine. • Previous experience in a senior leadership role is desirable. • Demonstrated skills in multidisciplinary team building in acute health care settings. The Package $450,000 base salary additional allowances and superannuation.
